In a very ordinary alley in Shanghai, there's a little tobacco shop. It was founded 60 years ago and passed down from father to son ever since. Time has passed and Shanghai has changed tremendously, but this small shop still maintains an old-fashioned management style. This film is about the current shopkeeper, a middle aged man in his forties. He enjoys a good reputation in the alley. He, his wife, friends and neighbors lead peaceful lives in the caring environment they have created for themselves. Strong emotions and liveliness pervade the film. By shooting from the perspective of an ordinary person, the filmmaker wanted to arrive at a non-judgmental, sincere, and intimate portrayal of their lives.
