Compadre is a documentary film about the destiny of a poor Latin American family during thirty years. Focus is on the strong character of the handicapped father Daniel. Together with Nati, the love of his life and their newly born daughter Sandra he begins family life working on a garbage heap in Lima , Peru in the seventies. That i s where they meet the director of the film and makes him the godfather of their child. Since then the life of the director and the family has been deeply related in friendship and conflicts during thirty years. Compadre addresses the conditions of love and friendship in a world torn by poverty and inequality. The film is an independent continuation of the feature length documentary The Other Shore (1992).

CURRICULUM VITAE: MIKAEL WISTRÖM
Born in Stockholm 1950. University studies in economical history, social anthropology and political sciences. From being a stills photographer & journalist he graduated as a film-director at the Swedish Dramatic Institute in 1981. Since then he has been active as director, pro ducer, photographer, writer, editor, teacher at film and art schools, manuscript writer, and assistant on a number of productions. His own production consists mainly of documentaries, with the exception of one full-length feature film ( Letter to Paradise 1989). Senior lecturer at Swedish Film School, Stockholm ( 1996-2004 ) , p roducer through his own company MÅNHAREN Film & TV.
