Locals and Their Native Environment in Shangri-La Gorge

The Shangri-La Gorge, located in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (Yunnan), lies at the heart of one of the world’s most biologically diverse areas and is also a project site of The Nature Conservancy. The over 5,000 Tibetan inhabitants of this area maintain a very intimate relationship with nature, and they create many stories about their lives, culture and economic production that rely on nature. This presentation will relate some stories about their relationship with their native land.
